Enhancing the Entrance of St Nicholas Shopping Centre with COBA Flooring’s Plan.e Entrance Matting
St Nicholas Shopping Centre, a hub of traffic in the centre of Sutton, faced a major problem with the flooring at their primary ground-level exit to the main car park, becoming slippery from moisture and dirt being brought in.
Recognising the potential for slips and trips, the team at St Nicholas Shopping Centre turned to COBA Flooring for a prompt and effective solution.
The team at COBA Flooring spent time with the customer understand what needs they had and challenges they faced to come up with the appropriate solution. Initially, a Matwell Frame was considered as a solution, but this would require extensive digging out of the current flooring. To avoid this disruption, COBA suggested the Plan.e entrance matting system, which can be laid on the surface without the need for lengthy installation work, keeping the entrance open and functional for customers.
The ramped edging of the Plan.e Entrance Matting creates a seamless transition on and off the mat so there is no trip hazard. With the large surface area of Econyl Alba carpet maximising the absorption of moisture making the run off tiles less slippery.
Once the solution was decided, two of COBA’s experienced installers, Rich and Ajay headed out to site to start fitting the Plan.e entrance matting system. With around 10,000 people a week using the entrance, the project was time sensitive to ensure that entrance/exit was not causing an inconvenience for the customers at St Nicholas Shopping Centre for to long.
This collaboration between COBA Flooring and St Nicholas Shopping Centre underscores the importance of finding the best solution tailored to the environment and business needs, particularly concerning safety and functionality in commercial settings.
