Thorpes Joinery install Plan.a Entrance Matting at New Headquarters

COBA Flooring’s Plan.a entrance matting has been installed at the new headquarters of Thorpes Joinery Ltd in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The award-winning company, which provides bespoke joinery products to commercial customers, has a reputation for working on a wide range of high calibre projects, mainly in the London market area.

Previously based in Great Glen, Thorpes Joinery recently moved into an impressive new 40,000 sq ft purpose-built facility on Airfield Business Park in September 2017 and required high quality entrance matting for its smart new Reception area, which also forms part of a showroom for their products. The building was designed by Isherwood McCann based in Blaby and constructed by Roe Developments of Chesterfield.

Thorpes Joinery required an entrance matting system that was both durable and functional, while also complementing the interior décor of their impressive new headquarters, which facilitates their offices, showroom, design and production facilities. They chose Plan.a, a custom-made to order aluminium entrance matting system with brown Alba carpet inserts, manufactured in the UK by COBA Flooring, also based in Leicestershire.

Plan.a is a heavy-duty aluminium entrance system. The high-quality nylon carpet helps to wipe moisture from footwear (nylon is renowned for its absorbency properties and is a quick-drying, crush-resistant material), while the aluminium bars efficiently scrape dirt and grit. Together, these features effectively protect interior floor surfaces and enhance safety underfoot by reducing the risk of slip hazards as visitors enter the premises.

While Thorpes Joinery opted for Alba (nylon carpet) inserts, the versatile system can be specified in a range of options with either carpet, brushes or PVC insert strips. It is possible to have a combination of two or more inserts which not only serve to ‘multi-task’, but also can be used effectively in creating stylish designs. Carpet inserts are available in either Alba (nylon) in anthracite, blue, brown or grey; or Needlepunch in charcoal or grey.  Custom logos can be integrated within Plan.a designs.

There is also a choice of either a ‘closed’ or ‘open construction’, in ‘standard’ or ‘low profile’ configurations. Thorpes chose a closed construction finish – this means that all dirt and debris is trapped on the surface of the mat and can be vacuumed with ease.  The matting was installed in a recessed matwell in the main Reception area by COBA Flooring’s installation team.

A special event to mark the opening of Thorpes’ new factory was held in February 2018. COBA Flooring is proud to have been a supplier to this new build project for a customer who shares the same quality ethos and values as its own.
