The COBA Flooring team braved the elements at Minorca Woods, part of the National Forest, and joined in on a day of tree planting in the mud on Friday 18th November 2022. The timing of the event wasn’t a coincidence, and came in the run up to #NationalTreeWeek, a campaign run by the Tree Council to mark the start of the tree planting season. 2022 also marks 7 years since COBA Flooring started partnering with The National Forest.
Our Commercial Group Director, Chris Stanley, and new Business Development Manager, Ian Gibbs, put on their boots and grabbed their shovels to plant some trees. In all, 20 trees were planted on behalf of COBA Flooring, who are proud CSR partners to the National Forest Company.
The weather was pleasant throughout the journey from COBA Flooring’s facility in Warwickshire up to Swadlincote, however the team was greeted with rain showers which were a feature for the remainder of the visit. The team were able to get the job done though in support of The National Forest.
The goal of this project is to ensure a better future, for not only humans, but the Fauna and Flora of the surrounding area. “We see our support for The National Forest as one small way to help reduce our carbon footprint, while benefiting the community and wildlife too.” – Chris Stanley
The National Forest stretches across 200 square miles of Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. It links towns, villages and open land, blending new planting and other forest habitats with ancient woodland. It is a project that is not only inspiring beautiful landscape, but also bringing major ecological and economic benefits to the area, for many generations to enjoy in years to come.
Not only do we plant some trees in the National Forest, but we do our best in delivering greener solutions within our product range. We are always looking for ways to develop our green credentials with our product offering.
Our Premier range is a collection of interlocking PVC/Carpet tiles that are manufactured from 80% recycled materials. The interlocking entrance tile system is really popular for many different commercial environments, from shopping centre entrances, to transport terminals, offices, hotels and leisure centres.
Our Alba entrance carpet is made from 100% ECONYL®, which is manufactured from recycled fishing nets and other post-consumer waste. Alba is available on its own as an entrance carpet material, but also as an insert in our popular Plan.a™ aluminium entrance matting.
Our Plan.a aluminium also contributes to our green credentials. Did you know that aluminium can be recycled an infinite number of times? It is also very popular to recycle because of its low energy needs and high scrap value. During the recycling process, aluminium does not degrade because its atomic structure is not altered when melted. It is therefore an economically and environmentally effective metal to recycle.
The National Forest Company teamed up with Shaun the Sheep from Aardman’s animation to help spread awareness of the project and ensure that the project grows.
The COBA Flooring team is proud to be part of the project once again this year and enjoyed working with The National Forest Company and their creative ideas on spreading awareness of the project by evolving Shaun the sheep to assist.

We at COBA Flooring look forward to taking part in the project next year again to ensure we bring our part in improving the community and conditions of the wildlife.
